![]() Over the past year or so my daughter and I have visited around 200 playgrounds in Maryland(we like to play). Actually, there are so many fantastic places to play (mostly for FREE) in Maryland that you could make a full time job out of visiting all of them. The playgrounds on this list are absolutely, positively, out of this world amazing. Playing was always a blast but nothing like modern day playgrounds. If you were lucky, there was a 4-square court painted in the corner of the basketball court area. In the 70’s and 80’s a great playground consisted of lots of swings, monkey bars, a few see saws, and metal slides that burned your legs in the summer. Playgrounds like this simply did not exist when I was a kid. We have compiled a list of winners you will want to check out now! Students are transitioning into instructors.Where should you play this weekend? How about one of these best playgrounds in Maryland. Students are encouraged to participate in Tae Kwon Do events/clinics. More involved training on moves sets, forms, 3 step drills, board breaking, and sparring. Students start learning basic moves, forms, and 3 step drills. Our program offers a beginner, intermediate and advanced classes. In addition to learning new skills, classes offer increased flexibility, balance, coordination, and muscle memory. Bag drills will be used to increase focus, power, and technique. Also, students will learn various block and counter-attack drills with partners. Participants will learn choreographed moves called forms. Students will learn basic self-defense skills such as blocks, kicks, and strikes. We offer a Minor (ages 9-12) and Major (ages 13-through High School) and games are typically played on Wednesdays & Sundays. Located at Oatesdale Park, Martinsburg, WV. This league is offered in the spring each year. Youth In-Line Hockey is offered to boys and girls ages 9-18 years old as of September 1, 2023. ![]() We hope to keep our youth engaged and participating in our program for many more years to come. We are proud to say that we have offered this unique and fun league for over 20 years. The Washington Capitals will be providing street hockey equipment to local schools and we the ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Sunday, September 29, 2019. The Washington Capitals and Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation completed the renovation for the two rinks in time for the 2019 fall season! The floors, walls, fencing and new goals have been replaced and our hopes are that the renovations will help improve our leagues and gain more interest from local hockey fans who would like to try the sport out. ![]() The Capitals just completed the upgrade of our very own Oatesdale Park in Martinsburg, WV and invested over $194,000 into this facility. Washington Capitals were awarded funding from an Industry Growth Fund and their organization has used those funds to upgrade in-line hockey rinks at various locations throughout the U.S. Youth Street Hockey is geared towards ages 5-8. This is an instructional league that focused on development. We are proud to offer this unique and fun league for players looking to get into hockey.
